November 6, 1934 Final rites for Mrs. Mary Virginia Lee, 76 year old widow of the late William R. Lee, Sr., were held here at noon today, following death Wednesday morning. Funeral services were conducted from the home of the deceased, with the Rev. H.E. Piost, pastor of the Oak Grove Methodist Church, Rev. D.W. Poole of the Mangham Methodist Church and Rev. A.C. Holt, Baptist pastor at Mangham, officiating. Interment was made in the Oak Grove Cemetery shortly after 12 0'clock. A host of friends and relatives gathered at the services to pay respects to Mrs. Lee, a beloved lady who had been a devout Christian since early life and who was noted for her hospitality and friendliness in her home. In addition to the many present, a profusion of floral offerings attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Active pall bearers were her five grandsons; E.V. and Percy Dennis, Claude Prine and Charles Parker of Oak Grove, and P.H. Earl, of Rayville. Mr.and Mrs Lee came to this parish in 1906 from Raymond, Miss. and until his death in 1929, Mr. Lee was actively engaged in farming and cattle business. The death of Mrs. Lee removes the last of the oldest orginal settlers of Hinds County, Miss. She is survived by four children: H.M. Lee, John R. Lee and W.R. Lee, all of Oak Grove, and Mrs. A.B. Beardsley, of Mangham. Eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives also survive. Mrs. Lee's death came suddenly Wednesday morning as the result of a heart attack. She was stricken at 7 o'clock and died less than three hours later. She had been in failing health for about six months.
