Buchanan, 81, aresident of West Carroll since the early seventies and supposedly one of the best authorities on its infancy, who resided in the second ward,"old Floyd" died at the Riverside Sanitarium in Monroe, Tuesdday, after a long period of illness. He was carried to Monroe last Sunday for treatment after having been confined to his bed at his home in bad health for several months. Mr. Buchanan moved to West Carroll from Greenwood, S.C. in the early seventies. He was in the mercantile business at Floyd for a number of years and also operated an extensive plantation. Funeral services were held at the Parker Cemetery, near Gowan Spur, formerly known as Wilcoxin, Wednesddday afternoon. A large number of his old time Floyd friends and relatives attended the services.
