Calvit, 88, a resident of Shreveport for the last 12 years, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jesse E. Lary, 416 Boulevard at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, were to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the East Carroll Baptist Church at Midway, near Delhi. Interment was to be in the Cemetery at Midway under the direction of the Norton Funeral Home of Haynesville. Mr. Calvit is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jesse Lary and Mrs. Althea Morgan, both of Shreveport; 11 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. My Note- Fleming Monroe Calvit was born-21 March 1866 in Epps, La. and was the son of Samuel Francis Calvit & Mary Ann Mathews. He married-Minnie Virginia Tharp (dau. of Rev. E.E. Tharp & Aletha Fatheree) Fleming Calvit & Minnie Tharp married-24 January 1889. Children were: George Albert, Althea, Elma, Mary Alice, Thomas, Jettie Donnan & Noah Ramsey Calvit.
