Curry, 106, of Oak Grove, were held at 2 pm Saturday from the Kidder-Cox Funeral Home Chapel here. The Rev. Wendell Russell officiated and interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery. Mr. Curry died Thursday, Dec. 27, in West Carroll Hospital from the effects of a long illness. He would have been 107 years old March 5, 1980, and was the parish's oldest living resident at the time of his death. Born March 5, 1873, in rural Mississippi, Mr. Zack moved with his family to the Jena-Tullos area of Louisiana around the turn of the century, where he engaged in logging. Survivors include a son, Dalton Curry of Oak Grove, five daughters, Mrs. Ethelene Allen, Mrs. Catherine Broadway, and Mrs. Bertha Whitaker all of Oak Grove, Mrs. Eva Newman and Mrs. Docia Wiliams both of Independence, Mo.; a brother, Jack Curry of Jena, who is 104 years old, a sister, Mrs. Liza White of Jena, who is 101 years old; 29 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Cecil Jones, Frank Jarnevich, Pete Harrison, Doug Gunter, Woodrow Leo and Arnold Lee. Mr. Curry moved with his family to West Carroll parish in 1926 where he continued to engage in logging before engaging in farming. Up until about three years ago Mr. Curry remained active and was a lively conversationalist. Making his home with his daughter, Mrs. Allen, in Oak Grove, he regulary strolled through the town park watching the squirrels and birds. He was three years older than half the age of the United States and lived during the administrations of 22 of the nations 39 presidents.
