William Penn Fowler, 74, a citizen of West Carroll Parish for the past twenty-eight years, who died at his home in Oak Grove Sunday, March 29. He had been seriously ill for several weeks prior to his death. Rev. Issac Patton, pastor of the Methodist Protestan Church, Campbell Chapel, Pioneer, and Rev. L. H. Brooks, pastor of the local Baptist church, conducted the services. Remains were interred at Oak Grove cemetary. Rev. Fowler was born near Rochelle, La, February 11, 1857. He moved to West Carroll in February, 1903, near Forest, where he was engaged in farming until 1911, when he moved to Oak Grove. Prior to his death,he was operating a local blacksmith shop. In October, 1885, he was ordained a minister of the gospel in the Methodist Protestant Church. He was active in all church work. He was a member of the Pioneer Masonic Lodge. December 17, 1874, Rev. Fowler was married to Miss Mary Francis Campbell, and to this happy union two girls and four boys were born, Mrs. Jennie F. James of Ola, Ark.,preceding him to the grave. Besides Mrs. Fowler, he leaves Mrs. Emma F. Freeman of Gadsen,Ala., Geo.W. Fowler of San Angelo, Texas; Louis A. Fowler of Oak Grove; Andrew Jack Fowler of Minden, La.,and Wilson L.
