Jackson~Hold Rites Tuesday May 27, 1948 Jesse Calvit Jackson, 51 year old resident of Epps, was found dead in a Monroe Hotel early Monday morning, following, according to Dr. J.T. French, Ouachita Parish coroner, a heart attack suffered about 8 p.m. Sunday night. Mr. Jackson, who recently had moved from Epps to Delhi, where he was engaged in carpentry contracting, was found by a friend with whom he was supposed to go fishing Monday, it was explained. After the Ward one resident failed to answer the telephone, the friend made his way into the room to find the body of the heart victim. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Epps Calvit-McDuff American Legion Post. Funeral services were conducted from the J.H. Lusk home at Epps, Tuesday with the Rev. Buckley, Pastor of Epps Baptist Church officiating and graveside services were held with Rev. Ellis Grubbs, Delhi Minister, officiating. Interment was in Delhi Masonic Cemetery. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Avis Jackson, a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Estelle Sutton of Little Rock, Arkansas. One brother , Willie Monroe Jackson of Epps. 2 sisters: Mrs. Ed (Mary Virginia) Clark of Gulfport, Mississippi and Mrs. James (Ada) McMahan of Alexandria, La. and father, Robert Lee Jackson of Epps. Pallbearers included: W.W. Terry, J.H. Lusk, Tom E. Lusk, Leon Kelly, Roy Tharp, J.S. Osborn, D.M. Postell, and Ed Butts. Catron_Gay Funeral Home was in charge of final arrangements. My Note-Jesse Calvit Jackson was born-10 January 1897 in Epps, La. the son of Robert Lee Jackson & Sarah Calvit Jackson.
