Alton Manar Dies in France as Result of Wounds Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Manar of Chickasaw were in receipt of a telegram Friday from the adjutant general's office in Washington. advising them that their son, Pvt. Alton K. Manar, died June 13 in France as a result of wounds received in action. Prior to that they had received a telegram to the effect that he was seriously wounded on June 12. As in the first telegram, mo detailed information was given Mr. and Mrs. Manar. Both advised that a letter would follow. Pvt. Manar, 25 years old, had been overseas 21 months and in service since February 1942. lThe last letter his parents received from him was dated May 31.
