Standerfer died after a year's illness. "Uncle Bill", as he was affectionately called by a host of friends, was born near Cato, Miss., in Rankin County, Jan. 22, 1862, and most of his boyhood days were spent in Braxton, Miss. He moved to Forest during January in 1902-one of the pioneers in the "Mississippi exodous" to West Carroll. He was a member of the Forest Baptist church, a member of the Columbian Woodman of the Word. He had served as clerk of these two faternal local camps for a number of years. He at one time represented ward three as a police juror for one term. He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Wild of Dumas, Ark.; three sons, Mike of Norwark, Calif., Emmett of Oak Grove and Ray of Forest; five grandchildren; one brother, Ira Standifer, of Braxton, Miss; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie McCall of McComb, Miss., and Mrs. Mattie Keen of Braxton, Miss. Funeral services were held at Forest Baptist church at 3:30 Friday afternoon, the Rev. Basil Halbert officiating. Active pallbearers were Woodard Bardin, Thomas Vining, Lloyd Blackwell, Joel B. Dickinson, Tommy Williams and Edwaard Harlan. Honorary pallbearers were R.H. Everett, F.E. Shivers, R.L. Vinning, G.G. Blackwell, H.M. Burke, B.F. Peacock and J.C. Edmonson.
