TORRENCE, WELLKNOWN CITIZEN, DIES WENESDAY Final rites for Jesse C, Torrence, 41, well-known citizen of this Parish who died Wednesday morning in the U.S. Veterans' hospital at Alexander, will be conducted Friday afternoon at Collinsville, Miss., near Meridian. The funeral will be held from the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Episcopal church and interment will follow in the cemetery There. Preparations have been made for the funeral cortège to leave early Friday morning. The body of the deceased was brought from the hospital Wednesday and has been at his home, about 13 miles southwest of here on the Oak Grove-Mer Rouge highway, where many friends have called to pay respects to his memory. Mr. Torrence's death resulted from pneumonia, of but short dur- ation. He became ill Friday night and was removed to the hospital Sunday. Successfully engaged in farming, Mr. Torrence, with his wife and three children, had been a resident of West Carroll since 1932, having moved here from Canton, Miss. He was a member of the Baptist church and was actively engaged in The affairs of Catron-Kelly American Legion post, here and of the Oak Grove Masonic lodge. Besides his wife and children, Earnest, 14, Alice, 12, and Lenell,8, Two sisters, Mrs. C.P. Kien and Mrs. T.J. Riche both of this community Survive.
