WHITNEY DIES AT BEULAH LAST WEDNESDAY Funeral and burial rites for Mrs. C.W. Whitney of Beulah community were conducted there last Thursday afternoon. The Rev. W. I. Newcomer officiated. Mrs. Whitney died last Wednesday of pneumonia. She was born and reared in this parish and was a resident here most of her life. Before her marriage she was Miss Essie Thomas. She was a member of the Baptist church. Although she had no children of her own, Mrs. Whitney and her husband reared three orphan children to manhood and womanhood: Henry Ridings of Cotton Valley, Mrs Mosley (nee Lena Hall) of Swartz and Mrs. Thomas Sanders (nee Beatrice Hall) of Beulah community. At the time of her death she was rearing three boys: J.W., Hollis and John Robert Defee. Surviving are Mr. Whitney and a number of neices and nephews. J.L. Farmer conducted the funeral.
