CAMP ON APRIL 22 Pvt. Jesse McHenry Womack, 25 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Womack of Forest community, who was taken prisoner by the German Government in North Africa February 17, 1943, died in a prison camp in Germany April 22, nine days before the prisoners were liberated. Mr. and Mrs. Womack recently recieved notification from the asjutant general's office, Washington, thaat he had died while still a prisoner. Pvt. Charley Fleming of near Oak Grove, who recently returned home after being liberated--he was freed from the camp May 3 after being a prisoner since November 1944-- told young Womack's parents that he was with him when he died, and that their son was only sick four and one half hours. He did not know the nature of the illness. Fleming advised that Womack was buried in a civilan cemetery at Haganaw, Germany. Womack, attached to an infantry unit, had a service record dating from May 28, 1942. Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, William Da;ton Womack, seaman second class U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific theater, and one sister, Mrs. O.N. Priscock, employee of the West Carroll parish department of public welfare.
