All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ Will of Jesse Blue originally recorded in Book "D" pg.365 Feb.22,1844 In the name of God amen I Jesse Blue of the Parish of Carroll and the State of Louisiana being weak in body, but sound and perfect mind,do make this my last will and Testament.viz; In the first place I wish all my outstanding debts,which I at this time owe,paid as soon as practicable after my decease. In the second place,I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Blue the following named negroes during her life.viz;Harry, Frank, Willis, Henderson, Charlotte, Lucinda, Caroline,and Harriet,to do and act with them as she my beloved wife Mary Blue may think proper,And after her death the above described negroes to be equally divided between her children with the exception of Harriet named above said negroe at the death of my wife Mary Blue is to be delivered to Elizabeth and Robert Oliphant the children of William Oliphant is their legal representa- tives. In the third place I give unto my beloved wife all my household and kitchen furniture,for her own special use during her life,and at her death to be equally divided among her children. I also give and bequeath unto my beloved wife two quarter sections of land lying on Bayou Mason in the parish of Carroll and in the State of Louisiana in which I now reside, to do and act with the same as she may seem proper during her life,I also give unto my beloved wife Mary Blue three quarter sections of land lying in Phillips County in the State of Arkansas,nine miles west of Helena,to do and act with the same as she may think proper during her life.I also give my beloved wife the full power of disposing any or all of the above described lands if she thinks proper.And if they should be unsold at her death then to be equally divided above directed.I also give and bequeath unto my beloved wife all my stock consisting of horses,cattle,sheep,and hogs and all the farming utensils consisting of axes,ploughs, gear,hoes,to be left at her own disposal, to do and act with as she may think best.I also constitute my wife Mary Blue as sole manager of this my last Will and Testament and that she shall take posession of all the forgoing property immediately after my decease, and have full power and control over the same from and after the signing of this my last will.In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal,this 12th day of February 1844.Jesse Blue seal.The State of Louisiana Parish of Carroll.Before me ,Felix Bosworth, Parish Judge in and for the Parish of Carroll in the State of Louisiana came Thomas Davis and Thomas Smith inhabitants of the said Parish of Carroll who being just duly sworn in the Holy Evangelist of Almighty -God,they depose and state,that they were present and did see Jesse Blue,the above named Testater sign the above instrument of writing as and for his proper act and deed and as his last Will and Testament.That said Testater signed on the day herein mentioned the Twelth day of February 1844.That the above said signature of the said Jesse Blue, that said last Will and Testament is as written by Richard Gale and read by said Gale to the Testater, and then at the finishing of the reading there of,which was done in the presence and having all these deponents the said Testater declared the same to be ,his last Will and Testament.
