Submitted by Gloria Lambert Kerns through the generosity of Mercy Lobell of Baton Rouge,
La.  This is a small cemetery located on the "Old Carney Place", in West Felician Parish, off
Highway 10, near Idlewood Nursing Home.

There are only two actual markers in the cemetery: "Wilson-Carney" and the one for
"Fishburns Carney".  All other names and dates were handwritten on a sheet of paper which
was in some type of frame and covered with glass.  The frame was set into the concrete.  The
glass is now broken and the writing exposed to the elements and beginning to fade.  The
cemetery apparently was fenced and the markers in place when the cemetery was cemented 
over.  It is very obviously a "home-made" job because the concrete had splashed on the fence
and markers.  The entire cemetery has been neglected for quite some time as it was not
known the cement was there until the clearing of trees and bushes began.  Apparently the
cement was covered by about 1 - 2 feet of dirt and mulch with vegetation growing on top of
the cement.  Cemetery cleaned by Jack and Mercy Lobell in March 1986

Research by Mercy Lobell on 22 March 1986 after clearing and cleaning overgrown bushes.
Iron fence with concrete covering the whole cemetery.  I was aware of this cemetery for the
past five years but not until 15 March 1986 did I start cleaning it.
