He had been ailing for several days, but would not go to bed, but continued to move about in his store, looking after his business, until late in the afternoon his illness took an acute turn and the physician was summoned in haste. Mr. Mann was 81 years, 6 months and 19 days old, and had begun to be quite feeble, although an indomitable energy possessed him. After having retired from business for a number of years, in 1911 he resumed his old business of store-keeping, taking the store and stand of his son-in-law, the hlate M. C. Levy. Mr. Mann was a native of Worms, Germany, but had lived in this country the greater part of his life. His wife died many years ago, but eight children survive him. These are Messrs. Ben Mann of Bayou Sara, Max and Abe Mann of St. Francisville, Dave and Dan Mann of Alexandria, La., Mrs. M. C. Levy of Bayou Sara, Mrs. Fena Lehman of rayne, La., and Mrs. Harry Weinberg of Baltimore, Md. Interment was made in New Orleans, yesterday morning at ten o'clock, the body being taken there on the L. R. & N. train, Thursday afternoon, accompanied by Messrs. Dave and Abe Mann and Mrs. Levy. Mr Ben Mann went down Thursday morning to make arrangements for the funeral. Relatives from a distance were Messrs. Dan and Dave Mann, Dan and Max Levy, all of Alexandria. Besides his children, Mr. Mann leaves a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, most of whom were born and reared in this community, the family being an unusually large and predominent one.
