He was 96 years old and a native of St. Francisville. He retired as a superintendent at Princeville/Joan of Arc Canning Co. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a military police sergeant in the Army, where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and Eameto Medal. He was also an avid bird hunter, LSU sports fan, and an Audubon Pilgrimage Rural Homestead Volunteer. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, St. Francisville, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., conducted by Fr. Cary Bani and Rev. Jan Curwick. Interment followed in Mount Carmel All Faiths Cemetery, St. Francisville. He is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Amacker and husband Major of Lake Providence and Melissa Myers and husband Phil of Franklin, NC and 2 grandchildren, George Amacker and Amy Amacker, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Alston Wilcox; his parents, Fred Converse Wilcox and May Alice Clack Wilcox; sisters, Mary Buckley, Margaret Reed, Caro Clark, Theresa Greer and Adele Percy; brothers, George, Ovid, John C., Fred C. Jr., Clifford and Charles Wilcox. Pallbearers were George Amacker, Mac Reed, Robert Daniel, Fred C. Wilcox, Melvin Harvey Jr., and Challie Daniel. Honorary Pallbearers are Clifford Wilcox, Jr., David Wilcox, Richard Wilcox, Charlie Daniel, Eddie Daniel, Conville Hobgood, Al Hardouin, Andy Erickson, Ed Daniel, Jimmie Osterberger, Donald Osterberger, Al Osterberger, Ricky Wimberley and Frank Metz.
