Knowing the uncertainty of his life and being weak of body, but of sound mind and judgement, blessed be God for the same, I make this my last will and testament. Firstly: I will that all my just debts be paid as soon as the executors can make arrangements to meet them. Secondly: I will and bequeath unto my only son, John Travasos, all my estate, real and personal, and in case he should die before he arrives at the age of maturity, I will that all my property, real and personal, go to my brothers and sister living in Portugal in Europe, namely, Louis Travasos, John Travasos, Francisco Travasos, and Louisa Francisco , provided they come for the property within two years after the death of my son, and should they not come within that time, I will and bequeath unto my brother-in-law William Row Jr. one half of a tract of land lying on the Mississippi, joining lands belonging to George Row above and Mrs. Beveneau, and the balance of my property I will and bequeath unto my brother- and sisters-in-law, namely, John Row, Catherine Row, and Nancy Jones, which balance is to be equally divided between them. Thirdly: I will that at my death that William Row Sr. take charge of my son and keep him until he arrives at the age of maturity, during which time I will that he, the said William Row, have the use of my tract of land before named as lying on the Mississippi. Fourthly: I will that my son be kept at school until he receives a liberal education, which he is to receive from the profits arising from my estate. Fifthly: I will that my friends, William Row Sr. and Levi Ratliff, have the full and sole management of my estate until my son becomes of age, should he live until that time, and should he not live until that age, their executorship ceases when his brothers and sister shall come or send with proper authority to receive it, or should they not come within the time aforementioned, for the executors to deliver the estate to his brother- and sisters-in-law aforementioned.
