John Baker, Winn Native Promoted

M. John Baker has been named president of ArkLa Energy Resources in
Shreveport, Louisiana, according to Mack McLarty, chairman and chief executive
officer of ArkLa, Inc.

Baker, 43, moves up from his current post as senior vice president of AER.
Prior to joining ArkLa in 1985, he held positions with Cities Service Oil and
Gas Corporation and Gulf Oil.

He has been involved in various professional organizations including the
American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. 
He is currently involved in the American Gas Association and serves as a
National Defense Executive Representative.

A native of Winnfield, Louisiana, Baker has a bachelor of science degree in
chemical engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
