R. Cardozier Named U. T. Permian President Dr. V. R. Cardozier was named President of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System at its meeting in Austin September 12. He has served as president ad interim since last December. Dr. Cardozier joined UT Permian as vice president for academic affairs in August 1970 and was responsible for planning the academic programs of the University and recruiting faculty and academic administrators for the newly created upper level and graduate university which opened in 1973. A native of Louisiana, Dr. Cardozier holds BS and MS degrees from Louisiana State University and the Ph. D. degree from Ohio State University. He later took postdoctoral study at the Center for the Study of Higher Education at the University of Michigan. Prior to coming to the Odessa institution he taught higher education and applied social sciences and served as department chairman for ten years at the University of Maryland. Earlier he served on the faculty of the University of Tennessee, as a research specialist in the U. S. Office of Education, and was for several years an education specialist in private industry. Dr. Cardozier grew up in Grant Parish and is a graduate of Montgomery, La., High School. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cardozier of Montgomery.
