But he is proud of his achievement. Cecil dropped out of Winnfield High School somewhere around 1931 in the 10th grade. " I just quit, like a boy will do," he said. Then last year while working in the lumber treating plant at Georgia-Pacific in Urania he decided to take courses in the adult education class at Urania. After 12 months of schooling, three nights a week totaling 180 hours, he was graduated. He drove 12 miles to school after working five days a week. Although he told one of his teachers "I don't see what good it will do me," he admitted that he felt satisfied over completing the course. "I guess it will be of some help to me," he commented. He serves as Justice of the Peace in Ward 2 and was elected without opposition in the last election. Mr. and Mrs. Couch have three children, one of them a senior at Winnfield Senior High. He has worked for Urania Lumber Company and its successor, Georgia-Pacific Corporation, for a total of 26 years. Couch was a member of the 14-man committee that is assisting the Winnfield District School Board in planning the proposed expansion and remodeling of the school plant. Supt. E. H. Farr, who with the Winn District School Board, named Couch to the Committee, said he figured Couch would be a good representative from Ward 2, which is part of the Winnfield District. Couch received a diploma through Winnfield Senior High. "I signed his diploma." Farr said.
