C. H. Elliott; Winn Parish, Louisiana Contributed byGreggory E. Davies 120 Ted Price Lane Winnfield, LA 71483 ********************************************** Copyright. He is a son of Chas. Elliott, who came from Virginia and who was a mechanic by trade. He married Miss M. L. Jennings, who was reared in Alabama. They were married in Greenville, Miss., in 1870. Mrs. Elliott survives her husband and lives in Winnfield. Henry was born in Greenville, Miss., Jan. 29, 1871, but was educated in Louisiana. He became a teacher but later became a saw mill man, and is now engaged in that line and in real estate and is a man of affairs generally. He has a capacity to do many things. He married Miss Lucy O. Crew Nov. 1, 1899 and four children have blessed their home. He is a Baptist, a Mason, an Oddfellow, K. of H., and Woodman, and is now a member of our city council. He is progressive and broad and as few others of our citizens has the permanent good of our city at heart as manifested by continued effort and investment. He is a senior member of the lumber firm of the Lands Lumber and Manufacturing Company, one of the very useful institutions our city. They are lamed just at this time by a recent burn of a part of their plant, but both gentlemen, Mr. Elliott and Mr. Gibbs, are men not easily discouraged, and we feel sure all damages will soon be repaired and all grades of mill work will be resumed. Mr. Elliott is a true and faithful friend, independent in thought and action, unquestionably and distinctively an individual. He is one of Winnfield's captains of industry and believes in her future and in our parish. His motto: "Hustle and do good."
