Record of Gaar From a farm in the Gaars Mill community to head of the agricultural department in the State Teachers' College, Statesboro, Georgia, is the enviable record of Malcolm C. Gaar, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Gaar of Gaars Mill. The journey was not made in a short jump but required fourteen years of work, study, and planning. Taking advantage of every opportunity presenting itself, Malcolm Gaar graduated from the Dodson high school in 1922, and forthwith entered the Louisiana State University. In June 1927, he received his B. S. degree. The next six years of Mr. Gaar's career were spent as teacher of vocational agriculture and science at Readhimer high school. While he was holding this position in 1932 he was selected as master teacher of vocational agriculture in Louisiana. He was awarded a fellowship to the Louisiana State University as assistant in the agricultural department and in 1934 he received his M. S. degree from this institution. Mr. Gaar served as principal and agricultural director of the Robeline high school in the year 1934-1935. In the summer of 1935 he attended the Ohio state university as a candidate for the degree of doctor of philosophy. In the fall of 1935 and 1936 he attended Cornell university at Ithaca, New York, as candidate for Ph. D. and served as assistant in the department of Rural Education. He will receive the degree of doctor of philosophy at completion of disertation. Mr. Gaar is now employed as head of the Agricultural Department at South Georgia Teachers' College, Statesboro, Ga. He and his family spent the yuletide season with relatives in Louisiana. he is fine, affable young man and his friends are congratulating him on his outstanding record.
