Sketch of Mrs. Mary E. Harvey, c. 1912, Red River County, Texas Mrs. Mary E. Harvey, the subject of this sketch, was born in Lawrence County, Mississippi, July 2nd, 1819. She was married to Leroy Harvey in 1838, and moved to Winn Parish, Louisiana in 1847. To this union was born ten children, the father and four of the children have passed away. The remaining six, Tom, Hart, Pearl, George, Dan, and Mrs. Margaret Banister moved to Red River County, four miles south of Annona, near Coleman Springs, in 1871 where she still resides with her son, George. To her have been born fifty grand children and thirty-one great grand children, making a total of one hundred and sixty-two. Grandma Harvey and her relatives are noted for longevity, she having passed her ninety-third birthday July 2, and with the exception of bad eyesight, still retains her vitality remarkably well.
