He was one of the purest and best men we have ever known. William T. Jones was the son and in turn became the father of L. D. Jones, W. R. Jones, C. L. Jones, Mrs. Lawrence Grisham and Mrs. W. M. D. Gaar, represented herein also T. L. Jones of Dodson, Mrs. Felix Walker, Miss Rosa Jones and Wesley Jones and others, a large and respected family. W. T. Jones was born and reared in Mississippi, but most of his life was spent in Winn Parish, LA., where he was a prosperous farmer. they had thirteen children, many of whom have families now in this section. L. D. Jones was born in Jasper County, Miss., in 1855, but was brought to Winn Parish as a child and was educated in her schools. He has been twice married, first to Miss Ida Brewser, in 1880, who died in 1888. Three children blessed this marriage. Then in 1892, he married Miss Hattie Odom, who yet lives and is a most industrious and faithful housewife. They have four children. Mr. Jones has made quite a goodly investment in Winnfield property, which yields him a handsome income, but besides he is a notary public and cotton statistician for Winn Parish. He is a member of the Baptist Church and Woodman, is a great believer in temperance and stand for the right. He thinks good roads and intensive farming for Louisiana quite feasible and necessary , and especially for Winn Parish, and that the finest future awaits our schools and churches. His motto as stated is : "To be honest and to do unto others as I would have them to do unto me." Mr. Jones is a faithful friend and one of the useful citizens of the parish.
