Kilpatrick has been named president of Northwestern State College at Natchitoches effective July 1, 1967. The State Board of Education announced that Kilpatrick, dean of the college, will become acting president August 15 and will assume the presidency of the college when Dr. John S. Kyser's retirement becomes official in 1967. Meanwhile, Kyser was given leave of absence effective August 15. Kilpatrick joined the adminstrative staff at the college March 10, coming from Northeast State College, Monroe, where he had served since 1951. He had been assistant professor, teaching health and physical education, mathematics, and education and also serving as athletic director and basketball coach. During the period 1958 1966 he was a fulltime member of the School of Education faculty, teaching psychology and education. Just prior to leaving for Northwestern, Kilpatrick served as chairman of the department of elementary and secondary education at Northeast. Kilpatrick is married to the former Juanita Cardozier of the Wheeling Community, Winn Parish, and they have a daughter, Lael, 13, and a son, Young, 9.
