His father was a farmer and engineer, and he was born in Tennessee, and is an engineer by trade, but coming to Winnfield five years since in due time was elected city marshal, which office he holds at this writing, and he is a candidate for re-election. he has made a most excellent officer, being attentive and industrious, using his authority with due benevolence and yet without fear or favor. He no doubt needs assistance, in Winnfield's growth, but few young men have proven themselves more didigent in public business than he.
