J. and Nancy Parsons Radescich. He spent his boyhood days on a farm in Ward 4 in the meantime attending public school at Gansville, Cypress Creek and Burnum Schoolhouse, entering Mt. In preparation for his chosen profession he entered Atlanta Dental College in 1905 and during his three years of study there his interest in athletics was so keen that he became a baseball star serving as captain of the baseball team, becoming an expert catcher for his team. He was also sporting editor of the Dentos, annual of Atlanta Dental College. Upon his graduation in 1908 Dr. Radescich engaged for one year in the practice of dental surgery in his home town Dodson. When the death of E. S. Mixon occurred in 1909, he purchased the office fixtures belonging to him and moved to Winnfield, March 6th, 1909, where he has remained and become a prominent figure in the life and affairs of this community. The doctor is politically affiliated with the Democratic Party and his constructive views have won for him public distinction. His first public service was rendered as a member of the town council for two terms, 1912-16. He considers good schools of vital importance to any community and as a member of the local school board for the years 1920-22 he strove to raise the standard and increase the efficiency of the local school in order to furnish the youth of the community the best educational opportunities. Dr. Radescich's next public connection was a term in the State legislature as Representative of Winn Parish from 1920-24, which proved a constructive period in the state's history. He favored the building of the Greater Agricultural College, supported the passage of the Hood Act, advocated Woman's Suffrage on the plan of state's right and was one of nine men to route the roads of the state which gave Winn Parish her east-west highways and which subsequently has proven to be of great value to the commercial interests of the town.
