One of the decidedly useful men in our parish is Dr. Talbot. He is a busy man but always finds time to discuss plans for advancement. Dodson is an excellent town and business center eleven miles north of Winnfield on the Rock Island. They have a $ 10,000 school building and are moving forward evenly. Dr. Talbot is a son of E. M. Talbot, who was born and reared in Alabama, but came to Louisiana in the long ago. He married Francis P. Jones in Jonesboro, La., in 1866. He is living but lost his wife Nov. 18, 1906. The Doctor was born Aug. 25, 1870 at Jonesboro, La. Was educated in the common schools and at E. A. Seminary at Arcadia and professionally in Tulane University where he graduated. He began April, 1893 and enjoys a lucrative and pleasant practice. He is a member of his city council and president of the school board. He stands for progress all along the line. Feb., 1905, he married Katie E. McBride, a daughter of William McBride, so widely useful throughout the country. They have four boys and one girl, and Dr. Talbot is especially interested in the education of the young, considering that, the hope of the country. He believes in Winn Parish and has right here in her midst acquired a competency. He is an active church member and a Mason and enjoys the respect of all the people in the midst of his rearing. Nervous, active, strong, standing for the right as he sees it. Motto: "Do right, hustle, do all the good you can for your country, especiallly your home people and family. Honesty, pluck and perseverance will win."
