Adams Principal of the Calvin School Prof. Adams is a son of Bookie Adams, of a family well known in the eastern portion of the parish. The people in that section are excellent spirits but in years agone they were cut off from the lines or centers of communication and hence the greater difficulty of either kindling or maintaining the fires of ambition in the young breast. No doubt full many mute, inglorious Miltons and undeveloped Cromwells lie in the silent church yards of all this section. Among those who bursted the bands and broke away from the environments unfriendly to higher aspiration is Prof. Adams. He made the best of his opportunities and as the fires were kindled in his breast he planned to take a course in college, which he accomplished at Mt. Lebanon College, much to his credit. This editor had the pleasure of awarding him a beautiful medal in a hard fought contest while he was a student there. He is thoughtful, mature beyond his years, honest and industrious, and we predict for him a future resplendent with intellectual achievements and useful labor. He is distinctly one of the representative teachers in the parish and is fast forging his way to the front in school lines and effort. He is also a Baptist preacher and deserves much credit for advancement made in this direction. He is a diligent student and no doubt when the roll of honor is made out by the early sentinels of the next generation for Winn parish that the name of B. C. Adams will occupy a creditable place. He is young and handsome and has good repute among his fellow citizens and his professional conferees as well.
