The old Corinth Cemetery is located just off the Alexandria highway (167 S) about five miles south of Winnfield. Many of the older tombstones in this cemetery are broken. There were several unmarked graves. Most of the burials taking place now are in the new, smaller cemetery located next to the church which had been moved up the black-topped road, while the older cemetery is down a seldom used dead-end dirt road. The cemetery was originally copied May 30, 1985 and was revisited and updated May 4, 1997. Family notes shown in italics and the information shown [in brackets] is added by Annette Womack from her computerized index of Winn Parish and related families. "@" denotes her direct ancestors. Please correspond with her if you have any additional information on any of these families. Mrs. Womack also checked her list against Briley's Cemetery Directory for the possibility of stones present in the early sixties (when Mr. Briley compiled his directory) that are not there today. These have been noted. Bartley, L.D.C. s/o R.W. & M. Bartley: Dec 12, 1896 - Feb 22, 1897 Bartley, Glora Ethel d/o M/M R.W. Bartley: Jan 3, 1917 - Oct 21 1920 Bartley: Margie S. : Feb 26, 1873 - Aug 25, 1962 Robert W.: Jul 10, 1866 - Jul 14, 1956 Beville Notes: All of Rardon@ Beville's children by Mary Long@ moved to Winn Parish. They were: William D. Beville, Sarah Ann Beville-Porter, Lucy Beville- Porter@, Elizabeth Beville-Hand@, Rardon Draton Beville, and James Riley Beville. This cemetery could have been called the Beville-Smith Cemetery as almost all buried here can show a close connection to these two families. Most of Rardon Beville's children by his second wife, Rutha Cost, stayed in Alabama. Rardon@ was the son of William Bevill@ born about 1762 in Huntington, England. The Beville family in England owned extensive nutmeg farms. There have been at least three books written about the family.
