There is no church at this location because there was a hard-shell Baptist Church located about a mile away. Mr. Billy Temple who showed me where the cemetery was located, said he remembered coming to the cemetery as a small boy and there were more graves then, than on the day I copied it. {which was 20 years ago now!} Tommy Rudd: 1889 - 1905 Joel D. Moffett Unmarked grave [This grave was a large rock grave approximately 3 feet by 7 feet, made from large red stones that will crumble when beaten together. There were artificial flowers on the grave. No names.] J. L. Moffett: June 5, 1893 - June 5, 1893 /son of N. M. & L. J. Moffett L. L. Thomas: Jan 17, 1887 - Aug 16, 1890 Unmarked grave [Marked with large red rock at head and foot, possibly the grave of a child???] Robert L. Jones: Oct 13, 1884 - Nov 25, 1884 A. H. Jones: Dec 24, 1814 - Feb 7, 1889 Born in South Carolina in Marion County. Age 74 years, 1 month, 13 days. Frances E. Chandler: May 3, 1841 - Aug 24, 1878 /wife of T. B. A. Moffett: Aug 13, 1859 p Mar 17, 1881 /wife of D. M. Parson age 21y, 7, 4d C. T. Parsons Mar 17, 1881 - Sept 7, 1881 /son of D. M. & M. A. Parsons age: 6m. 10d. Unmarked graves [Between the Parson grave above the Stone grave below, there are 2 or 3 graves marked with rocks. These graves are probably 1 stone high as dirt has partially covered most of the red rock stones.] Mrs. S. E. Stone: Aug 19, 1855 Oct 29, 1883 /wife of D. M. Stone [White wooden picket fence with roof note emblem. This is not too old. Mrs. Temple said it was rebuilt.] Thomas Moffett: May 4, 1822 - May 4, 1886 [This is a red stone grave, 3x7x3, but there is a headstone propped in a nick, also a foot stone propped up at foot.] T. W. Moffett: July 28, 1851 - May 15, 1913 [son of Thomas above?] Saleta E. Moffett: Feb 18, 1828 - Nov 7, 1892 /wife of Thomas Moffett 3 unmarked graves [These graves were marked only with rocks at head & foot.] ________ Ware? Oct 25, 192__ [This was on a metal marker furnished by Winnfield Furniture Co. The glass was broken. The letters "H.T.W." were on the foot. It was a square concrete marker at the foot. There was no headstone.] Wisemon Box Co. E. 28 La. Inf. C. S. A. [This was a marble tombstone with an emblem. There are no dates on the tombstone. NOTE: I am the 4th generation of this man. More information from the 1880 Winn Parish Census: age 52, born AL. Wife is Martha A. [Bolton], Box, age 40 from SC. Wife's father is from TN and her mother is from SC. Wisemon's parents are from SC. He enlisted May 10, 1862, a private in Gray's army. One of his children, Palistine Box, wife of James Thomas Hodge is buried at Cypress Creek Cemetery. When his wife, Martha died, she was buried at Cypress Creek near this daughter Palistine because the creek was up and they could not get her to this cemetery. (Or so the story was told to me.) Unmarked graves [If you stand in a certain area, you can see shadows of approximately 5 graves in a row, beside Wisemon Box. There are no markers, just the impressions on the ground.]
