Speaker Judge Cas Moss of Winnfield was guest speaker for the occasion. The Rev. O. L. Hughes, Hebron pastor, was in charge of the program. Visiting singers from Monroe entertained the audience, and a quartet, composed of elderly people of the Hebron Church, sand "Amazing Grace." Hebron Church was organized on Jan. 25, 1845 with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peters, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Woods, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Willis, Arley Peters, Perimitia Bullock and Sarah Jones as charter members. Early History Thomas Meredith was the first pastor, and during the trying years of 1860 to 1867, a Conference of the church was never missed. Until the emancipation of slaves, they were members of the church, and were later aided in establishing their own church. The second floor of the church today houses the Masonic Lodge, organized in 1902 by the late Henry E. Hardtner, F. C. Herring, Sikes, and George Erskine, Chatham, are the only charter members living today.
