Inquisition Held Over The Body Of J. B. Adams, Dec'd., Ward One

Abraham Womack, sworn, says: about three weeks ago I hear Mr. J. B. Adams
say he was tired of living this life and on October 17th in Winnfield I heard
him say that he had a good mind to kill himself.  I told that he must not do
that.

solemnly swear that you will diligently inquire and true present make on
behalf of the State when and by what means the person whose body here lies
came to his death and that you will return a true inquest thereof
according to your knowledge and such evidence as shall be laid before you, so
help you God.

Parish of Winn

An inquisition taken at the residence of J. B. Adams on the 18th day of
Oct. 1887.

Before me, John M. Abel, J. P., 1st Ward, acting coroner, upon view of the
body of J. B. Adams a resident of the Parish of Winn, there lying dead.
The jurors whose names are here unto subscribed having been sworn to inquire
on behalf of the State, when and by what means said J. B. Adams came to his
death upon their oath do say that on the morning of the 18th day of October
1887 he the said J. B. Adams came to his death from his own hands by shooting
his own self with a pistol, two balls entering near the left nipple one
entering about one inch below the left nipple the other about two and a half
inches below and a little to the right and the jurors do further say that
there is no further suspicion leading to the guilt of any other person with
the killing. In testimony whereof the Justice of the Peace, acting coroner,
and Jurors of this inquest have herewith subscribed their names the day and
date year above stated.
