Black Killed Information was received here Tuesday morning, that Mr. J. R. Black, a prominent citizen of Winnfield, was killed in Alexandria, by George Herring a resident of that city. What led up to the trouble between the two men was not definitely ascertained. Mr. Black was one of the substantial citizens of Winnfield, and recently sold out his interest in a livery stable here, which he had successfully conducted with Mr. A. J. Long. He stood high in public estimation, and the news of his sudden death was a shock to the entire community. His body was brought here from Alexandria on Tuesday morning and conveyed to Liberty Hill, Bienville Parish, on Wednesday and interred in the cemetery there. He leaves a wife and four small children to mourn his untimely death. To the afflicted relatives the public sympathy is tendered in their sudden bereavement.
