All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: November 12, 1970 Winn Parish Enterprise-News American Murder Charge Filed Thursday In Fatal Shooting Marshall Booker, Jr., about 28, of Winnfield, was killed early Thursday morning, November 3, in an exchange of shotgun blasts between him and Willie Earl Scott, 25, of Winnfield, Chief Deputy J. J. Crippen reported. Crippen said the shooting occurred about 3:15 a.m. Thursday at the home of Booker's estranged wife, Barbara Booker, in the McDonald Bottom Quarters. Booker was hit in the face by buckshot fired from a 16-guage shotgun by Scott, according to Crippen, who said Booker fired at Scott with a 20-guage shotgun, but missed. Booker died immediately, acting Coroner Dr. E. C. Meyers ruled. His body was taken to Ben Johnson's Funeral Home. Scott was charged with murder and is being held in the Winn Parish jail, Crippen said.
