The Enterprise was reliably informed that the machines had been placed in the various businesses with the Winnfield Governors, local baseball club drawing one-third of the proceeds, the owners receiving one third, and the business house the other third. According to reports, the management of the local baseball club decided to withdraw their claim on account of public opinion and for this reason, the machines were removed. Officials connected with the baseball club announced this week that the team had been disbanded. The last game was played Wednesday. The first action against the operation of the machines in Winnfield was Sunday night at the First Baptist Church when a majority of the membership went on record as being against slot machines.
