Negro Shoots At R. H. Smith

Scott Sawyer, colored, who lives in a servant house in the rear of the
residence of R. H. Smith, last Sunday night got 'organized' or 'rub' or some
other concoction and went on a rampage.  Mr. Smith went back to the negro's
house and attempted to quiet the negro and when he told the negro that he must
quiet down, Sawyer grabbed a shotgun and shot at Mr. Smith.  Fortunately none
of the shot hit Mr. Smith.  Sawyer was arrested and lodged in the parish jail,
where he now remains.
