His appointment was effective January 1. Hobdy grew up in Ward 8 and his wife is the former Mary Beth Riser of Winnfield. They have three children, Lorenza, 16, Myrtle, 14, and Romonie, 13. Jordan said that the appointment would mean the expansion of night patrols in two cars. (Floyd Hobdy was Winn Parish's second black deputy sheriff and I had the pleasure of working with him for approximately 10 years. Floyd was a credit to his community and parish and was a loyal and faithful deputy sheriff. He also drove a school bus for many years. Following a stroke, Dep. Hobdy retired and is currently a resident of a Winnfield nursing home).
