Coroner's Inquest State of Louisiana Parish of Winn State of Louisiana v. Eugene "Jabbo" Woods, O. V. Hicks, and Raymond Gordon At an Inquest taken on August 1st, and 2nd, in the year A. D., 1934, for the State of Louisiana, at Winnfield, in Ward One of the Parish of Winn, Louisiana, before the undersigned Coroner and Deputy Coroner, in and for said Parish, to inquire into the manner and cause of the death of one Roy Gorham, found lying dead in said Parish and State, upon the oaths of the following persons, members of the Coroner's Jury, to wit; W. H. Peters W. C. Cookston S. T. Fox J. M. Teagle J. H. Lowery good and lawful men of the Parish of Winn, Louisiana, who being duly sworn and charged to inquire on the part of the State of Louisiana, when, where and by what means, or in what manner the said Roy Gorham came to his death, on their oaths aforesaid, do say that the said Roy Gorham came to his death by and from wounds on his body which appeared to have been made with a knife or some other sharp pointed instrument which said wounds were inflicted with the premeditated design of effecting the death of the said Roy Gorham; that said wounds were inflicted during the night time of July 22, 1934, apparently between midnight and day, and that the killing occurred in the Parish of Winn, Louisiana. The Jurors aforesaid do here recommend that the three parties now in custody, namely: Eugene "Jabbo" Woods, O. V. Hicks, and Raymond Gordon, be held in custody on the charge aforesaid for investigation and appropriate action by the next session of the Grand Jury, to be convened and held in the Parish of Winn, Louisiana, and that the Coroner or some other officers of the Parish make or prefer charges against the same to bind each and all of them over to said Grand Jury. In Witness Whereof, we, the aforesaid Jurors, as well as the Coroner and Deputy Coroner, have hereunto signed our names to this Inquest, at Winnfield, in the Parish of Winn, Louisiana, on this, the 2nd day of August, in the year A.D., 1934.
