E. Williams Monday of this week. The equipment seized included twenty slot machines, six ball machines, two horse machines, two electric victrolas and poker and dice tables valued at several thousand dollars. This action was in conformity with an ordinance passed by the Winn Parish Police Jury about two months ago that prohibited the operation of sallons and dance halls in the same building and prohibiting the use of any musical instrument in saloons. Sheriff Sholars was accompanied by members of the Police Jury, which convened in regular session on Monday, and requested immediate enforcement of the provisions of the ordinance. The Police Jury also urges the enforcement of the Sunday closing law for saloons as well as the removal of all gambling devices from saloons, dance halls, or other places where they are now being operated.
