Quarters Sunday Midnight Leroy Redmond, 39, was shot and killed instantly by Artievelle Hollingsworth following an argument in Redmond's store in the T. & G. Quarters around midnight Sunday. The negro man died at 12:30 a.m. following an infliction of the gunshot wound from a .32 caliber automatic pistol, according to Sheriff Bryant Sholars. Sheriff Sholars reported that Artievelle and Redmond became engaged in an argument after she had entered her common law husband's store and asked him to come home. He was alleged to have been drinking and pulled a knife when the colored woman began crying over the exchange of words. As a result of the knife threat by the store owner, the colored woman withdrew her pistol and shot him, and Redmond died instantly, it was reported. There were no eyewitnesses to the actual shooting, but only reports of friends who saw the two before and after the argument were available, according to Sheriff Sholars. The alleged murderess has been released on a $ 1500 bond pending further questioning and investigation. Redmond's place of business is near Josh Mosley's store on the main street which runs through the T. & G. Quarters. He came here from Colfax and she is a former resident of near Dodson.
