Negro Woman In Jail For Shooting Husband Sunday

Honnie Lee Robinson Claims Self Defense Following Arrest


Honnie Lee Robinson, negro woman, is now in the parish jail pending
investigation by the Grand Jury for the shooting and killing of her
husband, Earnest Robinson, last Sunday morning about 9:00 o'clock in the
Brick Yard quarters.

The woman claims she shot her husband in self defense, because he was
chasing her with a butcher knife and ax threatening her life.  The bullet
fired from a .38 S & W hit Robinson above the right eye, and he died from
the wound Sunday afternoon about 5:30 according to information from
Sheriff Bryant Sholars.

Robinson was discharged about a year ago from the U. S. Army after
overseas duty, it was learned.

The Grand Jury will meet September 4 and it is anticipated that the case
will be investigated then.
