Mary Lee Sapp, 23 year-old negro woman was stabbed to death Sunday night about 10 o'clock, as a result of an altercation with Annie May Baxter, negro, 18 years of age. The women lived in Atlanta, and while on their way home from church at that place Sunday night, the controversy arose over the Sapp woman's husband. The dispute became so heated it is said, that the two women drew their knives, and that Annie May Baxter stabbed the other woman over the heart causing her death almost instantly. Officers hastened to Atlanta and took the Baxter woman into custody and lodged her in the parish jail. Article No. 2, 8-24-1933 Negro Woman Is Sentenced To La. Penitentiary Mon. Annie Mae Baxter, negro woman, who was arrested last week near Atlanta on a charge of stabbing Mary Lee Sapp, another negro, who died almost instantly, was arraigned in district court Monday and pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter. Judge F. E. Jones sentenced her to a term in the state penitentiary for not less than three nor more than five years.
