Negro Woman, 23, is Stabbed to Death at Atlanta Sunday


Mary Lea Sapp, 23 year old negro woman of the Atlanta community, was stabbed
to death at that place Sunday night about 10 o'clock as a result of a dispute
with Annie Mary Baxter, negro, 18 years of age.  While on their way home from
church Sunday night a controversy arose between the two women over the Sapp
woman's husband.  The dispute became so heated, it is said, that the two women
drew their knives, and that Annie Mary Baxter stabbed the other woman over the
heart, causing her death almost instantly.

Officers hastened to Atlanta and took the Baxter woman into custody, lodging
her in the parish jail.
