Inquest of Lee Smart State of Louisiana Parish of Winn At an inquest taken this second day of December, 1935, for the State of Louisiana, at Winnfield, Louisiana, in the Parish of aforesaid, before me, J. F. Faith, Coroner of said Parish, for the purpose of determining when, where, how and after what manner, one Lee Smart, came to his death, upon the oagh of J. M. Gwin, W. Pool, J. C. Higgs, George H. Harrison, and J. A. Jordan, who having been first duly sworn, do say: That the said Lee Smart came to his death in the Parish of Winn, on the 1st day of December, 1935, as a result of a wound, which appeared to have been made by a twenty-two (22) caliber rifle, entering the left side just above the clavicle and the exit was over the right clavicle, severing the common carotid artery, causing almost instant death; that the gun was fired by one Sylvester Rogers; that from the evidence produced before this jury, they find that no blame attaches to the acts of the said Sylvester Rogers, and they therefore recommend that the said party not be bound over to the Grand Jury. In Witness Whereof, We, the said Jurors, as well as the Coroner aforesaid have hereunto signed our names on this 2nd day of December, 1935. J. M. Gwin Witnesses: Louis Sholars W. Pool Harry Fuller J.
