Efa Williams, 74, who lived in the L & A Quarters, died in the street after being cut in several places with a pocket knife. An artery was cut in one arm which was probably cause of death. Williams reportedly ran 100 yards after being stabbed with the knife, before falling to the street to his death. Charged with murder is Arthur Jackson, 52, who also lives in the L & A Quarters. Jackson is in the parish jail awaiting trial. Jackson and Williams were friends for many years and it was reported that the two men had been together for two or three days before the incident. They had been employed at the same place for several years. Williams was cut on the back, chest, and arm with the knife.
