D. 1861, between James C. Weeks of the Parish of Natchitoches in the State of Louisiana of the first part and Henry H. Slaughter and Joseph P. Crosley of the Parish of Ouchita in the State aforeswill partys of the second part witnesseth. That the said party of the first part hereby transfers to the partys of the second part the use and possession of all that certain property situated in the Parishes of Winn and Natchitoches in the State aforesaid acquired by said party of the first part from Reuben Drake and Mary L. Drake known as Drake Old Mills and Salt Works, together with all the rights and privileges held and enjoyed by him the said party of the first part and also all the houses, machinery, kettles and other fixtures of every kind & descriptions whatsoever now on or in any way attached to the premises, for the purposes and in the conditions hereinafter wit. The said part of the moved to second part will with the least possible delay put into operation this said Saltworks on said premises and will continue to operate the same to their full capacity and to the greatest advantage so long as the operation of said works shall in their judgement prove profitable. The party of the second part shall furnish the use of all the necessary capital and labor to operate the said salt works and shall control and superintend the same and for the use of the premises, machinery, kettles, houses and fixtures aforesaid, shall pay to said party of the first part One third of the net earnings of the same. The said party of the second part are required and shall keep perfect books of account and shall at any time when requested exhibit the same to the party of the first part and shall from time to time when required pay over to the party of the first part such sum or sums of money as may be due him.
