Yesterday afternoon at 1:30 Messrs. J. R. Hall and G. B. Spangler came in on an automobile which Mr. Hall purchased in Alexandria. They came through the country from Alexandria, and thereby hangs a tale. The left Alexandria Tuesday morning headed for Winnfield and later found themselves seven miles from Alexandria and travelling from Winnfield. The returned to Alexandria and took a new start. They next found themselves in Colfax and starting out from there they next came to themselves at Pollock, farther from Winnfield than when they were at Colfax. Taking another start, the gasoline gave out. Mr. Spangler came home while Mr. Hall went to Alexandria after gasoline. After waiting a day without seeing anything of the machine and chauffeur, Mr. Spangler started out on a searching tour and met Mr. Hall coming in and together they rolled into town yesterday afternoon. They had a splendid trip and are throughly acquainted with the roads in Grant Parish. The auto is a good looking machine and is quite a curiosity to a lot of our citizens.
