(Independence Lodge was the first known Masonic Lodge to exist in Winn
Parish, La.  Independence Lodge was located at Saline Mills in the vicinity of
the Salt Works, in present day Ward 10, Winn Parish, an area commonly known
today as the Weeks Community.  It is near the old Pine Ridge Community, and
not far from Goldonna, Natchitoches Parish.  This lodge never received a
charter from the Grand Lodge of the State of Louisiana and was only in
existence for a short period of time, probably about two years or so)
