All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From: June 17, 1910 The Comrade The Farmers' Union Reviving Interesting Meeting of the Winn Parish Farmers' Union Was Held Last Tuesday and Officers Elected for the Ensuing Year, Also Delegates to State Convention On Tuesday last the quarterly meeting of Winn Parish Union F. E. & C. U. of A. met pursuant to call in Comrade Hall. President W. M. Simmons of Mineral Springs local presided, and N. G. W. Adams, of Hurricane Grove, who is Secretary-Treasurer of the parish, was also present. Ten locals were represented. The reports received showed that unionism was recovering from the effects of the late panic and the boll weevil and that the membership who now compose the union are the quality who stick and accomplish results. The following officers were elected to serve during the ensuing year: President, W. M. Simmons, reelected. Vice-President, W. Jasper Boyett, of Zion Hill local. Secretary-Treasurer, N. G. W. Adams, reelected. Conductor, Harry Eagles, Winnfield. Doorkeeper, C. J. Hammons. Chaplain, J. H. Lewis. Executive Committee: W. L. Smylie, Allen Nugent, and H. G. Jones. Delegates to the State Union which meets at Alexandria on July 26, 27 and 28, W. L. Smylie and W. Jasper Boyett. Oak Ridge was chosen as the next place for holding the parish Union, which meets on Tuesday after the second Sunday in September. After a stirring address on the situation of the Union, by R. B. Kennedy of Winnfield, the Union was declared adjourned.
