Tanner to Artie (Risher) Watson: Dodson LA March 15/54 Rt. 1. Dear Cousin Artie I will answer your letter I enjoyed so much. I guess you thought I wasnt going to answer. I have been very poorly and I have moved. I live one mile South of Sikes. La. on Charlie Cranes' place. I wish you would pay me a visit I sure would like to see you I hope you are well. I am not feeling so good. I sure thank you for the boy's picture I think he is a nice looking fellow. Artie I have your Daddys picture and I will send it to you if you will promise me you will have you some pictures made from it and send it back to me. I want to keep it as long as I live when I die you can have it. I have kept it over 50 years. I had a letter from Jennie Smith Jennie Thompson used to be. They were well. Artie that Little John Tanner you ask about, is my oldest brother He lives in Gulfport Miss. My brothers are all living you tell Missouri and Oliver and all the folks to write to me. I sure would like to see Missouri. Well it sure is cold over here in these dry Louisiana hills it is the driest here that I have ever saw at this time of the year. Artie what church do you belong to I am a pentecoster I have been saved 13 years. Artie do you all farm over there I havent worked any since 1948. My wife and I gets $104 dollars a month old age pension and that is what we live on. Well I guess you all have a nice garden. Ours is sory (sic) it is so cold and dry over here. Do you have lots of chickens we dont have any we have a dog one cow and calf. We get plenty of milk. Oh yes we have a nice fish pond you come over and we will go fishing. Well I guess I had better close for now looking for a long sweet letter from you real soon. May God richly bless and take care of you all from one who loves all of you.
